WTF people?

I see a lot of people, I mean *a lot* of people spewing hate and bigotry over all that has happened over the past few weeks. It's been growing and growing over the last four years but it's gotten to a horrible point with the 'shutdown'.  I just viewed this post : http://www.eutimes.net/2013/10/pentagon-warns-to-expect-radical-change-in-us-government-soon/.  It was followed shortly by a bunch of other posts attacking Obama and all he's done to ruin the government.  Well, honestly I think it's ridiculous as he's not in the Senate or the House any longer and the shutdown came about because Congress, which is made up of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, would not agree on a spending budget for the country.  Obama didn't veto a budget like Clinton did 17 years ago.  He really isn't the one to blame, or at least not completely.  People seem to like to point the finger at him more than the people who are truly responsible just because he's either the president or because he's black (or Muslim, depending on who you ask).

Why must we hate all the time? Seems like we always have a group of people to hate: Commies, Nazis, the French, the Brits, now Arabs and Muslims...at one point we hated the Japanese too.  I guess we'll have to hate on the Canadians once we get over our hate for Arabs and Muslims.  Maybe we'll also hate Brazil too, especially after the World Cup.  Maybe our country is just based on hate and maybe that's why it's falling apart.  It takes far too much energy to hate than it does to live peacefully and live and let live.  Oh shit, does that sound too much like Socialism? I can never tell these days as everything that used to just be normal or sound good is now either Socialist or anti-American.

There's a girl at my work who is having severe difficulty grasping how the world really works.  I guess it ended up happening at first when she got divorced.  Apparently when she was growing up, the world worked like this: graduate high school, get a husband who'll take care of you, have kids, retire at 65 and live happily ever after.  No one prepared her for the divorce that would happen, or her losing her job at AT&T that she had for 15 years.  No one prepared her for having to sell her house and start looking for apartments. No one prepared her for the loss of her other job she got when she was trying to get back on her feet again when some guy decided to stalk her and when she went to HR, she was fired for being a nuisance.  She wasn't prepared to deal with life as it really is rather than the fairy tale she bought into when she was young and didn't know any better.  It's really sad to hear her sometimes.  She rants about how she's against Obamacare and all the things he's done, but yet she empathizes with the homeless guy on the corner.  She seems to think they can all be saved and given a chance to redeem themselves.  If that were the case it'd be great. But a bunch of the homeless people we have in the city have some sort of mental issue that makes them unaware that their behaviors are not socially acceptable and lack the ability to change and fix that so they can actually hold down a job.  There are plenty of homeless people who are homeless simply so they don't have to answer to anyone, they don't have to live on anyone else's schedule but their own.  I know so, I've stopped and talked to many of them since I too at one point was homeless. I'd see them at Food Not Bombs and sometimes I was the girl handing out the food, sometimes in the line to get it.  In order for the homeless peoples to not be homeless any more, they need support and motivation.  They have to have a want to change the way they live and once they have that need, there needs to be something in place to help them out.  Do you know how hard it is to apply for jobs when you don't have an address or a phone number?  Do you know how hard it is to go to an interview in ragged clothes because it's all you own at the moment?  Do you know that most places will turn you away if you have facial hair or your hair is all matted since you don't have ready access to a shower and a razor?  Most of the republicans are wont to limit the funding for such places that would help those folks out, but yet here's this extreme tea party gal who wants to give the poor guy a chance.  She doesn't like the idea of food stamps either, but honestly if she needs em, I'm sure she'd be first in line to sign up for them.

There definitely is something broken about this country and honestly I think it stems from the greed and the hate that this country is based on.  I'm not all about everyone sharing the wealth equally, nor am I for letting people outright starve.  But I'm all for doing what you chose to do as long as you let me chose to do what I want to do as well, while not criticizing my decision to do it.  I just want that to be a universal thing; live and let live.  If you want to be a fat person with diabetes, fine, be a fat person with diabetes. If you want to be rich and live in a mansion, fine, go to school, study hard and meet the right people. If you want to be a housewife, fine, take a few cooking classes and possibly learn to knit and sew and do some household repairs.  If you want to be hippie, be a hippie.  If you want to just get by, fine, do what you have to to get by.  If you want to be homeless and just live life on a whim, by all means do it. I won't judge you for it.

Strange

My cat has been acting strange as of late. She's been running around mewing at the ceiling and generally on edge since last week. I'm not sure what is up but it's driving me crazy.  I wish I knew if this was just normal cat behavior or if this means my house has ghosts or something.  Probably not ghosts, but maybe.  It's always freezing in my room and the living room and she freaks out most in those rooms.  I never really paid much attention to it before now but she's started to freak out more often and for longer periods of time.  Hopefully she'll snap out of this funk pretty soon, at least by the time we move to the new place.

Weekend

This was the first actual weekend I worked at my store.  I closed Thursday and Friday and Saturday.  SO MANY LICENSEE ORDERS!  And the best part was I got to see Chad and I got a bunch of love :)

I have been trying a bunch of new foods on the hot bar at Ellwood Thompson's.  I had this seitan dish that had rosemary in it and boy was it ever tasty!  I love their "Buffalo" bites (made of tofu).  Their curried chicken was yummy as well and so was their beef brisket.  Yeah, I know, I mix my vegan food with my manly meat diet.  It's all part of my own diet: if it tastes good, I'll eat it. So I also ate a shit ton of fruit and veggies the past three days.  Today was my cheat day and I got burgers for Frankie and myself from Carytown Burgers and Fries. So damn good, but totally not healthy for ya.  Next time I'm going to get a chicken breast "burger" instead of one with ground beef. At least it seems like the more healthy of the two options. I could also get it as a portabella burger, but then I don't know how well the rest of the toppings will go with it.

Does listening to black metal ever make any of you want to eat cookies?  Cause it totally makes me hungry for cookies.  It might just be because every singer I hear makes me think of Cookie Monster.  Funny enough, we were listening to Austrian Death Machine earlier.  If you don't get it, I'll tell you later, no time! Get to the choppa!

We tried to watch Hellraiser this weekend.  Three times.  The first time was foiled by a sleepy boyfriend.  The second was foiled by a sleepy me.  The third time I thought we were going to actually get to watch it but then we realized the DVD package I got had only 3-6 and three other extra movies.  So I still haven't seen Hellraiser. I'm sorry Ty, I'm working on it!  I purchased a DVD of 1 and 2 on Amazon so I'll try for it next weekend I guess.

Oh and I have to call about four people tomorrow morning in regards to apartments.  I hope I can get the one on Ellwood, just because it's cheap, they allow cats and I know the area. And it's like 6 blocks from work so I wouldn't have to even use my car.  I could buy a street bike and ride it over to Frankie's if I need to.   And it's within walking distance to Ellwood Thompson's AND Martins AND Pantera Bread so hooray!

Frankie has coerced me into agreeing to watch Caddyshack with him tomorrow night.  I have never seen it and I honestly don't want to see it, but he seems determined to get me acquainted with it. Oh well, I'm making him watch the Worst Horror Movie Ever.  Basically it's a horrible movie and it really fails as both a porno and a horror flick.  It took me three attempts to make it through the whole thing.

That seems to be about it, more when either I get an interesting thought or if something explodes near me.  I'm not sure which will happen first, but rest assured you'll know about it.

Oh and Xanga is dying.  The die-hard Xangans are trying to help them raise 60,000$ by June 15th but I doubt they'll get there.

So yeah

You know how I said my phone screen cracked?  It's not coming apart and I'm finding little plastic shards all in my fingers and stuff. It's not something I'm real thrilled about, but it means I'm getting a new phone in about a week. At least it still sorta works.  The touchscreen is just iffy that's all.

I also get my insurance card in the mail after the 1st so I can go to the doc and get my asthma meds that I've been needing since forever ago.  That means once I get my meds, I have no excuse to not exercise :)  And I can keep up with Frankie more when we go out and about.

Went to Maymont today after Frankie got more added to his tattoo. It looks amazing, I can't wait to get my own in the fall.  I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to get but I'm not trying to get anything quite as involved as his, at least not for my first.  Probably gonna get a small one, probably gonna have it on my back, just to get a decent feel for it.

Oh and Frankie got the job with ABC. He'll find out which store he will be working at sometime this week.  I'm glad he's going to get a better paying job with more normal hours so we can maybe do something together and I might be able to get some sleep for a change :-P

Anyways, I gotta get some sleep, I have to pick up Frankie at 5am.  Oh how long my day will be tomorrow.

Cracked

Yup. That's right. As soon as I post I downloaded the app to my phone, it falls off my lap right onto the pavement and now the scream is cracked all to hell. Oh well, I never really liked this phone anyway. *sigh* I guess I have to call the insurance people in the morning. And pay 100$ for a new phone. Goldstar, just what I wanted to do. Not.
Frankie was on Tommy's radio show tonight and I swear, he's the very best boyfriend ever. If you don't believe me, download and listen to this http://radio4all.net/index.php/program/68585 .
Oh and first thing in the mornin.g, I have to figure out how to use western union to send dad some money. *sigh* it never ends.
But that's about all I got, waiting for Frankie to get here so I can crash. Night everyone!

Another Go

I haven't updated this since...well it's been far too long in between posts. Especially now that I don't have to go to Starbucks every time I want some internets.  As I type this, I'm drinking Sierra Mist from my Canada mug and eating leftover pizza all while my cat stares at me angrily for not paying more attention to her at this moment than the computer screen.  Oh well, I just got her some catnip, she can't complain too much, there will be loads of playtime later this week.

I finally got a promotion at work.  Now I'm the new assistant manager at the Carytown ABC store.  I hope you guys in the Richmond area will come by and visit me from time to time.  They renovated recently and the store looks immensely larger, if you can believe that.

Also broke up with Michael. It wasn't working out, us dating, but we've done pretty well as friends and roommates so that's a plus.  I'm dating a new guy, Frankie and you can see his pretty mug over on my Instagram page (I'm braaainz_rva if you're interested).

Been trying to figure out where I'm moving next; I gotta find a two bedroom place under 1000/month for me and my dad. Oh by the way, his marriage didn't last, surprise!  I believe I called it, either on here or on Xanga.    Oh well, I guess if you haven't learned the five times previous, you won't learn the sixth right?

I've been going out to more shows lately and I'm loving every minute of it, even if it means going deaf.  Last night I saw Occultist, Suppression, Rotten Sound and Abigail. They were pretty sweet, I'd never heard of Abigail, but they kicked butt too :)  Tonight I get to see Weedeater, Cough, and Inter Arma.  I work with two of the guys from IA and I've seen Weedeater twice now so I know they'll both be awesome. I've only ever heard of Cough and seen a few videos from other shows on YouTube.  I hope they'll be good too, more doom metal than anything else.   I'm glad my boyfriend is into that sort of music.  Actually he was pretty surprised that *I* like the music that I do.  I don't have many piercings or any tattoos which usually are some visual clues that would give that sort of info away.  I just haven't had the disposable income for that sort of thing in the past but now with the new job and the extra 10K a year, I should be able to rectify that.   Also I don't normally get to go to shows due to always having to work but so far it's been doable. Finally being in a store where there's proper management help is always a plus.

I'm supposed to leave here in a few minutes to take the boyfriend to the river. I'm not sure what we're going to do there, but I'm sure there will be some sort of eating going on.  Maybe even some drinking.  Who knows. I'm going out to buy a cooler either way.  I hope to keep this updated more regularly.  I even downloaded the app from the android store so I have no excuse to not blog daily.  Maybe I'll post some pictures from the show or of my new shirts after I fix them to my liking :)

Ciaos!
